Pastor Josh's Sabbatical — Summer 2025
As I reflect over the past 7.5 years that I've been at Prince, I see how God has done much more than I could have ever expected! Recognizing the importance of being fully prepared for this next season at Prince, I am taking a sabbatical this summer for a dedicated time of rest, prayer, and seeking God's direction.
- What: I am taking a summer sabbatical—a time away from my regular duties for rest, renewal, and seeking God, as provided for by our church policy.
- When: My last Sunday preaching will be May 11, 2025, and I plan to return to the pulpit on August 3, 2025.
- Why: This feels like a strategic time for me to rest, refresh, pray, and prepare before the busy and exciting season leading up to the new worship center opening next year and anticipated growth of the church. It's an important opportunity for me to seek God's vision and ensure my long-term health and effectiveness in leading Prince forward.
- My Well-being: I want to assure you I am not sick, depressed, or burned out. While I acknowledge feeling weary after a wonderful but demanding 7.5 years, I feel genuinely encouraged about the future. I believe taking this sabbatical now is a necessary step to be fully energized and prepared for all that's ahead.
- Church Ministry Continues: Please know that all church activities, including summer camps and events, will continue as scheduled! Our church life and ministry are not taking a break while I'm away.
- Sunday Preaching: We'll begin an exciting series through the Psalms this summer (starting with me preaching Psalm 1 on May 11). While I'm gone, preaching duties will be shared by our other pastors (David, Sky, Adam, and Jace) and my brother, guest preacher Steven Smith. You'll be blessed by their teaching!
- Pastoral Care: Our dedicated pastoral team remains available for any pastoral care or counseling needs throughout the summer. Please don't hesitate to contact the church office as usual if you have a need—they are ready to serve you.
- My Prayer Request: I humbly ask for your prayers during this time. Please pray that I would truly hear from God with "hands open" and gain fresh vision and energy for the future of my ministry and our church family.
Thank you for your understanding, love, and support. I'm excited about all God will continue to do this summer! I will miss you all, but I look forward to returning refreshed in August!
