What is Camp 78?

Camp 78 is a summer day camp where kids can Play It, Create It, Perform It, Rec It, and Learn to Live It! Kids will participate in a variety of tracks that include sports, fine arts, STEM, and recreational activities. The vision of Camp 78 comes from Psalm 78, encouraging us to declare the deeds of the Lord to the next generation so that they might set their hope on Him. If you live in Athens, Watkinsville, Monroe, or the greater Clarke County and Oconee County area, we'd love for you to attend Camp 78!

Volunteers

OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE THE REASON FOR THE SUCCESS OF CAMP 78!

Here are some things to keep in mind before you register:

  • Decide if you would like to volunteer for Camp 78 (Full Day) serving elementary-aged campers or Preschool VBS (Half Day) serving preschool campers.
  • We will provide childcare until noon for any of your own children who are too young to attend Camp 78 or Preschool VBS.
  • Most of the adult volunteers are placed in a classroom (Half Day) or in a Squad (Full Day). The classrooms usually have ten children and two adults. The Squads usually have twenty-five children and five leaders.
  • Plan on attending the training sessions in June...dates coming soon.

We prefer to only use volunteers who are associated with Prince Avenue Baptist Church or Prince Avenue Christian School. We like to know our volunteers. However, we have had many incredible volunteers from outside of our organization. Please do not be offended if we ask for a recommendation from your pastor or if you get a phone call from our staff.

We also have opportunities for Middle School and High School students to serve. The students play a big role in the camp. However, all students must be registered in order to participate. Parents will be asked to pick up their students if they are dropped off at Camp 78 without having pre-registered as volunteers.

Special Needs

Camp 78 has limited resources available for children with special needs. To maximize your child's camp experience, your child must be able to safely participate/follow instructions in a classroom environment and safely participate/follow instructions in a variety of physical activities. Find more details about our Special Needs ministry and contact our Prince Pals Coordinator, Ashley Downs for more information.
