Responding to Hurricane Helene: How We Can Help

October 01, 2024

Dear Prince Avenue Baptist Church Family,

We are humbled and grateful that our community was largely spared from the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Let's take a moment to thank God for His mercy and protection over us here in the Athens area.

However, we know that many of our neighbors across Georgia and surrounding states weren't so fortunate. They have suffered significant losses and are facing immense challenges in the wake of this storm. As followers of Christ, we are called to love our neighbors and respond to those in need.

Here are two ways we can help right now:

1. PRAY

Pray for families who have lost loved ones.
Ask God to comfort them in their grief and provide peace during this difficult time.

Pray for churches in the impacted communities.
Pray that they will have the strength and resources to effectively minister to those who are hurting and provide practical assistance.

Pray for opportunities to share the Gospel.
Pray that in the midst of suffering, individuals would be open to hearing about the hope and life found in Jesus Christ.

2. GIVE

Give to Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief
Prince regularly supports Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief, which provides vital services like chainsaw crews, cleanup, food services, and counseling to disaster-stricken areas.
You can give directly to their Hurricane Helene relief efforts by clicking the link below. All tax-deductible donations will go directly to aiding families, churches, and communities impacted by Helene.

Stay tuned for further updates

Recovery from Hurricane Helene will be a long process. We are actively communicating with our church partners and state convention partners to identify specific needs and opportunities to provide further assistance. We will keep you informed about these opportunities as they arise so we can continue to offer strategic and meaningful support.

Thank you for your compassion and willingness to help. Let's show the love of Christ to those who are hurting and be a beacon of hope in this time of need!
